BeautifulBamboo.comBamboo Poles
These honey-colored domestically grown poles have been heated in a kiln, which brings out the bamboo's natural oils to create a polished look - a truly beautiful, eye-catching finish. They're an excellent choice for any inside or outside project that demands a high quality product. Unlike imported poles which tend to be slightly smaller than the named diameter, the diameter of domestically grown, designer quality poles tend to be much closer to the named size at the base (they will taper to a somewhat smaller diameter at the top end.) Diameters vary between 1.5" and 2.25" Looking for a bamboo that's one-of-a-kind special? Then 'Chunky Monkey' is the bamboo for you! The unusually shaped, close-node culms are a distinctive feature of Phyllostachys aurea. This running bamboo is commonly known as Golden Hedge or Fishpole bamboo because of the natural handle that appears at the base of some culms. Occasionally, the handle or bulging nodes appear higher on the pole. These domestically-grown poles are a rich amber-brown. Like all our designer-quality polished poles, the shiny finish is a result of the drying process. Time spent in a low-oxygen kiln brings out the bamboo's natural oils. Because every pole is different, 'Chunky Monkey' works well in custom building projects and is an eye-catching addition to any home decor.

6' to 10' long - $15 each
These traditional-looking bamboo poles are the standard used for all types of indoor and outdoor applications. The smaller diameter poles are rice-colored with occasional natural markings of lighter or darker shades of tan. The larger diameter poles might be more accurately described as an amber brown color. Both the larger and smaller diameter imported poles are the perfect choice for any sort of indoor or outdoor project. Although most poles are straight, some have a slight bend and the diameters of all imported poles tend to be a little smaller than the named size, especially at the top, showing the natural taper as the bamboo canes were growing. Bamboo poles crack over time depending on temperature and humidity. Imported poles tend to crack more frequently than domestic poles do. Cracks will not affect the wood's integrity or strength. We will do our best to supply you with the most attractive poles available but we cannot guarantee against natural cracking that may occur during or after shipping. Click here for SIZE CHART.
If you are looking for less expensive poles that do not necessarily need to be particularly straight, are not polished and have more of a funky, natural look than the imported or designer-quality domestic poles, consider our own homegrown poles. Cut from groves of running bamboo as well as from mature stands of clumping bamboo, these poles work very well as is for all sorts of outdoor applications - fences, garden features, wind chimes, benches, etc. where a natural weathered look is desired. For indoor applications, we suggest cleaning the poles (pressure washing works well) before applying your desired wood preservative or finish. Lengths over 6' will taper from bottom to top as the plant grows, so the top diameter may be an inch or more less than the bottom named diameter, and most poles over a few feet long will have some bends or curved sections. Freshly cut green poles are available with or without branches. They will remain green for several weeks before gradually turning tan or brown as in the photo. Click here for SIZE CHART.
