Bamboo Poles

Above are samples of the most popular bamboo pole sizes we have available for sale.

The 2 poles closest to Sherry are freshly cut poles 1" to 1.25" in diameter.  The other 3 are dried poles with diameters from left to right of approximately 1.5", 2", 3". We also have some bundles of dried 1.25" poles in the 6 foot length.  Like all lumber, the diameters of the dried poles are a little less than the named measurements. Also, being natural products, bamboo canes are slightly smaller at the top than at their base. Many smaller diameter and some larger diameter canes are also available to be cut from our groves - please inquire about price and availability.

Bamboo poles are naturally subject to developing some cracks over time depending on temperature and humidity. Small cracks generally do not affect the integrity or beauty of the canes. Some poles with more cracks are available at half price as shown below - many are still fine to use as is, or they can be split lengthwise on a table saw and used to make beautiful half rounds for trim or frames as in the photo above.

Clean Them Yourself and Save!

Surface dirt from the bags they came in has caused some stained areas. Vinegar or soapy water will remove the dirt leaving some poles the natural tan color and others with a mottled, darker patina that many people find attractive. They also can be pressure washed or sanded to remove the dirty areas.

Some of the half-price poles also have cracks on portions of the canes. They are still sturdy and suitable for many applications, or they can be split in half on a tablesaw to use for trim. See the photo below.
